What Do You Envision for 2025?
The start of a new year is often a time when many of us make resolutions, promising ourselves we’ll do things differently, better, or perhaps more or less often. These resolutions can start off with great enthusiasm, but as the year goes on, they often fade away. By the end of January, we might feel disheartened for not sticking to them. Over the years, I’ve moved away from making resolutions and instead, I’ve found joy in creating a *vision board* for myself.
A vision board is a creative collage made up of drawings, words, photos, or anything that inspires me. I think about what I want to see or do in my personal life, my professional goals, and my spiritual growth. It’s a simple but powerful activity that helps me focus on my desires, but also reminds me to stay open to the natural flow of life. It’s about setting an intention and trusting that the steps will come, even if I don’t have all the answers straight away.
What I love most about having a vision board is that it’s something I can revisit throughout the year. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of my goals and dreams. And sometimes, I’m amazed at how many of the things I envisioned have actually come to pass. There’s something magical about putting our dreams into the world, even if we don’t know exactly how to make them happen – just the act of creating the vision seems to set things in motion.
When we work with communities looking to create a Montessori-inspired elder care environment, one of the first things we encourage is creating a *vision statement*. We ask them to imagine what their community could look, smell, sound, and feel like in the future. What would the best possible version of their community be? What would it look like if nothing was holding them back? We encourage them to dream big and believe that if they can imagine it, it’s possible.
Some communities go further and make poster boards or collages to represent their vision – a physical reminder of the aspirations they’re working towards. Once their vision is clear, we help them break it down into achievable steps, trusting that, together, they can make it a reality. It’s not about having all the answers right now; it’s about believing in the process and knowing that working together will bring beautiful results for the good of everyone involved.
As we move into 2025, I encourage you to take some time to dream and create a vision for your year. Think about what you want to achieve personally, professionally, and for your community. Picture your life if nothing were holding you back. What could you accomplish? What would you like to experience?
By setting intentions and staying open to possibilities, we can move towards the future we truly desire – and just like with a vision board, the steps will unfold along the way.
Let’s make 2025 a year of dreaming big and creating beautiful things! ✨
