Technologies in Dementia Care
We're always on the hunt for innovations, big or small, that will make a difference, especially in the lives of people living with cognitive impairment.
Last week, we were grateful to have been allowed to take part in an OM Interactive Mobii system experience.
OM Interactive Mobii system is fun and easy to use for people of any age, and with cognitive impairment while encouraging expressive language and movement β for greater physical and emotional health.
A care research report from 2018 investigated the effects of this technology and found that elderly residents including those with dementia and their carers can benefit from such advancements when it meets their unique needs and goals.
β Key insights from the report:
π 92% of participants reminisced during the session and found ways to feel a sense of belonging and familiarity
π 90% were encouraged to use expressive language and movement for greater psychological and emotional health
π 80% of respondents found great opportunities to socialise and reduce loneliness
π 96% of participants responded positively to the high colour visuals, βpaintingβ by sweeping with tactile brushes, balls and batons.
A great project to be involved with resulting in very happy clients. Give it a try!
